About Composite Insulators

Composite insulator is a multiple insulation structure composed of continuous layers of different insulation materials, used as a new type of safety insulation material to replace traditional insulators and other electrical insulation devices. It is usually composed of structural layers, intermediate insulation layers, and surface insulation layers. The main structure is usually made of metal, and the insulation material is composed of structural insulation layers and surface insulation layers layer by layer. According to their applications, composite insulators can be subdivided into rod-shaped suspension composite insulators, needle type composite insulators, cross arm composite insulators, pillar composite insulators, etc.

Structure of Composite Insulators

Overall structure: The composite insulator consists of a core rod, umbrella skirt sheath, and connecting fittings. The core rod material is usually fiberglass, providing the mechanical properties of the insulator; The sheath is connected to the surface of the core rod through adhesive to protect the core rod; The connecting fittings are located at both ends of the composite insulator, used to connect the insulator to the tower fittings.

Excellent resistance to atmospheric discharge: It can effectively protect electrical equipment and extend its service life.
